Who am I?
I’m Joel Kew, a versatile guitarist based in Cambridgeshire with a passion for music that spans across genres. I have a degree in jazz from Leeds Conservatoire, but my musical interests and abilities reach far beyond that. Whether it’s jazz, pop, rock, blues, or anything in between, I love blending different styles to create the perfect sound for any occasion.
As a professional guitarist, I’ve had the privilege of performing at various events, from intimate gatherings to large corporate functions. My goal is always to tailor my music to the atmosphere, whether I’m providing subtle background music or taking the spotlight as the main attraction. I’ve performed at weddings, private parties, and corporate events, and each experience is an opportunity to connect with the audience and enhance their special moments through music.
But my love for music doesn’t stop at performing. I’m also a passionate music educator, teaching guitar, bass, drums, and music theory to students of all ages and skill levels. I aim to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students can build confidence and unlock their musical potential. Whether you’re just starting or looking to advance your skills, I believe in helping you grow as a musician while also encouraging creativity and self-expression. For me, teaching is just as rewarding as performing—seeing students develop their skills and discover the joy of music is something I truly value.
In addition to my work as a performer and educator, I also work as a session guitarist, collaborating on various studio projects. My versatility across different genres allows me to bring a unique touch to recordings, whether it’s for a solo artist, a band, or a commercial production. I approach each session with professionalism, creativity, and an eagerness to contribute to the final product, and I’m always excited to be part of something new and innovative.
Music has always been my passion, and I strive to bring that passion to every gig, session, and lesson I’m involved in. I believe that music is a universal language, one that connects people in ways words can’t. Whether I’m playing a live show, recording in the studio, or teaching a lesson, I’m committed to sharing that connection with others.
When I’m not performing or teaching, I love traveling and exploring new places. I’m always open to taking on gigs across the country and meeting new people along the way. It’s a big part of why I enjoy what I do—music is a way to connect with different cultures and create meaningful experiences wherever I go.
With my diverse skill set and dedication to my craft, I’m always looking for new opportunities to inspire, entertain, and teach. Whether you’re in need of a guitarist for your event, a session player for your recording, or a music teacher to help you reach your goals, I’m here to help make your musical vision a reality.
