What gear do I use?

Guitars

  • Suhr Classic S (HSS) - A slightly more modern take on the Fender Stratocaster, this guitar is the most versatile in my collection. I use this for the majority of work, from glassy clean tones from the single coils to heavily distorted humbucker tones.

  • Ibanez AS73FM - A classic 335-shape semi-hollow with two humbuckers. This achieves a range of tones. I mostly use it for warmer sound, when I wish to fill more frequencies, especially in the low end.

  • Gibson ES-175D - A classic jazz box used for… you guessed it. To achieve that classic clean jazz sound.

Bass Guitars

  • Squier Classic Vibe 50s Precision Bass - Arguably more Motown that James Jameson’s bass, this sits perfectly in any mix, providing that low end needed in all kinds of music.

  • Sire V7 Marcus Miller Bass - A modern jazz-style bass, this achieves some of the funkiest sounds. With an active preamp, this is the perfect live tool for achieving a range of tones on the fly.

Amplifiers/Effects

  • Kemper Stage Profiler - Like many guitarists, I have moved to an “ampless" rig for most works. I can do the majority of gigs without any speakers for my guitar on stage. The Kemper is a fanatic tool that emulates virtually any amplifier, so long as it has been captured by someone and has been made available for me. This also allows me to add almost any effect that may be required. This is the most useful tool for a professional musician who wishes to be versatile and play any genre of music.
